Sustainability

In a context of severe western exposure, a breakthrough design environmental façade surgically protected residents from the daily discomfort of western exposure heat gain.
Carefully designed skylighting succeeded in bringing daylight down to 5 levels below it, for comfort in the physio-therapy areas.
Early green walls were created to balance privacy and protection.

Cultural & Community

The design embodies the compassionate vision of the Buddhist operators (Heung Hoi Ching Kok Lin Association) while conquering the fierce HK-western-sun-problem, to provide a comfortable, daylit, and dignified home for the golden years.   A communal home environment gives residents a sense of self-respect and the planning gives the operators the efficiency to care for them.
